Charmed Dreams

Hi Folks,

Manasa priya yedla here---

Dream catchers are believed to bless the sleeping ones with pleasant dreams, good luck and harmony throughout their lives.

It is said that each carefully woven web catches all the bad dreams during the night.
But then, in the modern day, we make all kinds of it even without webs, in a contemporary manner to suit our decor and the likes. I decided to make this dream catcher as my DT project for TECS.

Today I decided to go with the tones of blue- grey and cream to give it a very subtle finish with some boho spirit.

I chose this beautiful moon mirror base with stars from the Element Craft studio as the base.
Started by Making some tassels to go with the boho theme adding some beads, feathers and laces to the stars and created hangings.
Now I added the Zigzag Magic stencil using some texture paste to give a little dimension in the background...
I have used the newly launched chalk paints from TECS in the colors True ivory, Aqua Breeze,  Gun metal..  To color the base,  stars and embellishments.

Now I did some image transfer of click,  text and numbers at random places and added shaker beads and glimmer dust also from TECS...
I hope you liked this project.
Untill next time.. ❤

Vintage Key Holder

Hi All, My Name is Rimjhim Garg, DT members of The Element Craft Studio. I am super excited to share my first DT project with all of you.

First of all, I really want to appreciate The Element Craft Studio for making such wonderful bases. The quality, finishing and material is just too good and you will love working on it.
For my DT project, I chose key holder to work on. As vintage, rustic is my style, I thought of giving this key holder a vintage old look.
Here is my final DT project.
Products used from THE ELEMENT CRAFT STUDIO:
Step 1: Priming the base
As I mentioned before, the quality and finishing of TECS bases are just amazing. Hence, no sanding is required. I started my project with priming the base with a layer of gesso. You can directly start with chalk paints.
Step 2: First layer of chalk paint (Gunmetal)
After I was done with priming, I gave a coat of my first layer of chalk paint i.e Gunmetal. As, I wanted to give a perfect old vintage look, it required various layering of colors.
Step 3: How to get distress look
To get distress look, I rubbed the candle all across the project wherever I wanted to have that look.
Options to get distress look:
Candle
Sand Paper
Vaseline

Step 4: Second layer of chalk paint (True Ivory)

After rubbing the candle on the entire project, I decided to give a coat of my second chalk paint, True Ivory. It is more like an off white color, rich in thickness.
Step 5: Distressing
Now comes my favorite part. Distressing…. I used a normal card for scratching the top layer of true ivory. You can also use sandpaper for the same.
Step 6: Decoupage
I used a German decoupage tissue with drawer picture on it. Matching with the requirement of the project.
Removed all the layers of the 3-tier napkin . I decoupaged the tissue using mod-podge.
After that I attached the mdf frame. Colored it with black acrylic and using dry brushing technique, gave a distressed look with true ivory chalk paint.

Step 7: Third Layer of chalk paint (Faded teal)

Although, I got vintage old look, but still I wasn’t satisfied. I wanted something more colorful.. Something with pastel shade. As pastels are my favorite.
So, I decided to give another layer of pastel shade. I used faded teal for this which perfectly satisfied my requirement and taste. Before that, repeat step 3 of rubbing candle all across the project.
Please note, you can follow this step before decoupage also.
Step 8: Stenciling
After I was satisfied with the color tone, I decided to give some textures to my project. So I picked up three stencils from the store and used texture paste for stenciling. Crackle stencil was used on the upper portion of the shelf. Victorian calligraphic stencil to create borders and welcome stencil to write WELCOME on the top.

I also created texture on the side of the shelf so as to leave no stone unturned.

Step 9: Dry brush distressing

After creating all the textures and everything, I wanted to give final touch to my project by highlighting those textures.
I used dry brushing technique for this. Make sure your brush is completely dried before using. Chalk paint used for highlighting was GunMetal.

Step 10: Varnishing

Finally I used Aquadur PU varnish from the store to complete my project. Two layers of varnish is perfect for any project.

And TADAAAAA…. My project is completed….  Here are some pictures of the final project. And I must say, this vintage key holder goes with any background :P:P

Grandeur Jewelry Box

Hello friends,

I am Vidhi Jadeja from Artery Crate. Here is my Debut post for The Element Craft Studio!!! It's an honor to be a part of a great team. I just love all the products from TECS. They are wonderful, unique, pocket-friendly and with great finishing.

I received a beautiful Munshi Ji Style Jewelry Box as my DT kit. When I saw a design for the first time, I decided instantly that I will make it a Grandeur Vintage shabby chic Jewelry Box !!! Have a look at my finished project. Hope you guys love it and enjoy its procedure to design a gorgeous box.

Now I will start the procedure step by step :

Step 1: The box is finely sanded so there is no need to sand it. I removed its hinges so it will be easy to work on the box. I choose shabby chic papers "Beaux" from TECS 's decoupage paper collection. For the box lid, I selected a lady's picture paper and for the front top and back side of the box, I selected another paper from the same collection. Cut it accordingly to its size and distressed the edges of the papers with Brown Archival Ink.

Step 2:  To the side of the boxes I did some stenciling with TECS stencils and modelling paste. Its quality is perfect for stenciling. Just love the result.

Step 3:   I wanted to add some new technique to decoupage papers so I did faux tiling to add more embossed effect on the top side of the box. I took my decoupage paper and choose Hexagonal shapes to cut three different sizes of hexagonal with Dies. For more embossed effect I cut two other layers for each size of hexagonal from Black chipboard. And stick them together, now it will look like a small tile. Keep that three tiles aside right now, will stick them later.

Step 4:  To color the box, I used chalk paints from TECS. They are wonderful, gave perfect coverage to MDF surface. I choose a dark shade around my papers and the sides of the box. I want to distressed the sides of the box so as a base coat I applied Dark shade and on that, I rubbed Wax and I applied a pastel shade on it. Distressed the edges and embossed part with sandpaper.

Step 6: Now I glued down all my Decoupage papers with Mod Podge on their surfaces. On the top of the box, I applied two-step crackle medium on two corners for more texture on paper. First applied base coat and when it dries applied top coat to get fine crackles. To make that cracks more visible I rubbed dark brown oil color and wiped the extra color with the tissue. It adds more interest on the surface.
Step 7:  As the last step, I fixed my hinges which I removed earlier and above that, at one corner I glued that Hexagonal tiles at their places. I added metal charms for more interest and highlight them with Waxes.  Even for more depth, I added some beads near the charms.

Voila!!!  My Vintage shabby chic box is ready to shine. Hope you guys love it.

Vintage Multi Organizer

Hello Crafty Peeps,

Myself Semonti Roy DT member at The Element Craft Studio. Today I’m here with my first DT post of a decoupaged vintage organizer on TECS blog.

 Here is my finish project.

I’ve used lots of beautiful products from TECS. Products are listed below:

Now I’ll share step by step tutorial on the same.

As we all know, TECS MDF base doesn’t need sanding at all so I have directly applied chalk paint onto the surface. For coloring the base I choose 3 colors. Used gunmetal first then applied other 2 color as dry brush and brush stroke techniques. I prefer color first then decoupage. I decided to decoupage with 2 different design papers which came in same paper pack. Measures the place where I want to decoupage and then apply decoupage glue onto the specific area and decoupage the measured papers.

 Front side color

After Decoupage---

Distressed the entire base edge with brown archival ink.
I have decided to add some clay relief pieces on the base. Then color the clay work with same shades of chalk paints and highlighted with bronze metallic color. Also stamp a vintage car with black archival ink in front of the organizer.

Took wooden cutouts of gears from the pack and color it with same colors. I have used metal leg for the organizer and dry brush them with patina chalk paint and highlighted with bronze metallic color.

Created texture use modeling paste mixed with gunmetal chalk paint with stencil in front of the base and added a vintage clock pocket watch hanging with metal chain.

Before adding charms and legs I have applied two coat of acrylic varnish. Now finish my project. Hope, you all will like my project.

Thanks and happy crafting.

My Mom's Treasure--Recipe Book

Hi Crafty folks,

This is Anjali Sharma, designer@ the element craft studio and today I am here with a very interesting project “My Mom's Treasure--Recipe book”. I always follow my mom's recipes whenever I cook her signature dishes and always need to reconfirm the ingredients and process....

So here is an outstanding idea developed by TECS for all Mom's girls to keep recipe treasure with us whenever, wherever we want---A Recipe book with revolving stand.....Here is my version of this recipe book---

Products used from the store:
-Grass Field Glimmer dust

Here are quick steps to make the album-
- firstly I have colored the base stand with chalk paints( you can use desired color) and stenciled glimmer dust by mixing it with clear gel texture paste.

-Now I prepared album blanks by adding patterned papers on both sides of each mdf page of the album.
-I have added recipe notes on each page of album which is already in the pack.

-on pages, I have added elements like envelope using papers from the same pack, recipe tags from the small 6x6 papers pack, fussy cut embellishments given in paper packs.

- I have embellished the album with fussy cut elements from the paper pack and mdf embellishments which is available in matching theme from the store.

-for the cover I have layered cut out from the paper pack and embellished with some flowers, laces, mdf embellishments and leaf die cut outs and we are done!!!

Hope you guys liked the project!!
