Essence of Spring....

Hello friends,
I am back again with my inspirational post for The Element Craft Studio. Spring is here... " Spring is a lovely reminder of how beautiful change can truly be " This time I got MDF raw Perpetual calendar with the clock base as my DT kit.

Spring is here. So I keep that fresh yellow and orange colors in my mind and altered a beautiful perpetual calendar with a clock for my Kitchen. Sunshine is here again....yeah !!!!

Here is the procedure !!! I selected beautiful papers from TECS !!! "  Sunny Side ". These papers are perfect for my theme.

Now I started with my base.

First I colored the base with Dark Brown chalk paint. There is no need for a primer as MDF base and chalk paints of TECS are perfect to work  After that I applied crackle paste at some places and on borders, I rubbed wax for distressing.

I selected one paper from the pack and cut a small round for the center of my clock base
and distressed the edges with Archival brown ink.

After that, I applied a Bright Yellow color as a base color on the entire surface except for blocks of a calendar. Now you can see fine small cracks on the surface.

Then I fussy cut some flowers and leaves from papers and distressed the edges with Archival brown ink. With little green and brown, I created shadows on the right side of the base and stuck flower and leaves there. Distressed the edges with Sandpaper to the entire base. I did some stamping too with Black archival ink here and there to create more interest.

Now, I added some chippies from TECS collection. Colored them with little dark copper color and for blocks of dates and month, I used a photo transfer technique. Applied Wax at the borders and then colored them with Bright orange color. After it dried distressed the edges with sandpaper. I laser print the numbers and months after flipping the image and stuck them on blocks with mod podge. Kept that overnight and removed gently with a wet sponge.

I stuck numbers on the clock and fixed the machine on its place.

After that last step, I found my two corners of the base little empty. So I added some stuff to look finished and voila it's done...

Hope you guys love it :)

Grandeur Jewelry Box

Hello friends,

I am Vidhi Jadeja from Artery Crate. Here is my Debut post for The Element Craft Studio!!! It's an honor to be a part of a great team. I just love all the products from TECS. They are wonderful, unique, pocket-friendly and with great finishing.

I received a beautiful Munshi Ji Style Jewelry Box as my DT kit. When I saw a design for the first time, I decided instantly that I will make it a Grandeur Vintage shabby chic Jewelry Box !!! Have a look at my finished project. Hope you guys love it and enjoy its procedure to design a gorgeous box.

Now I will start the procedure step by step :

Step 1: The box is finely sanded so there is no need to sand it. I removed its hinges so it will be easy to work on the box. I choose shabby chic papers "Beaux" from TECS 's decoupage paper collection. For the box lid, I selected a lady's picture paper and for the front top and back side of the box, I selected another paper from the same collection. Cut it accordingly to its size and distressed the edges of the papers with Brown Archival Ink.

Step 2:  To the side of the boxes I did some stenciling with TECS stencils and modelling paste. Its quality is perfect for stenciling. Just love the result.

Step 3:   I wanted to add some new technique to decoupage papers so I did faux tiling to add more embossed effect on the top side of the box. I took my decoupage paper and choose Hexagonal shapes to cut three different sizes of hexagonal with Dies. For more embossed effect I cut two other layers for each size of hexagonal from Black chipboard. And stick them together, now it will look like a small tile. Keep that three tiles aside right now, will stick them later.

Step 4:  To color the box, I used chalk paints from TECS. They are wonderful, gave perfect coverage to MDF surface. I choose a dark shade around my papers and the sides of the box. I want to distressed the sides of the box so as a base coat I applied Dark shade and on that, I rubbed Wax and I applied a pastel shade on it. Distressed the edges and embossed part with sandpaper.

Step 6: Now I glued down all my Decoupage papers with Mod Podge on their surfaces. On the top of the box, I applied two-step crackle medium on two corners for more texture on paper. First applied base coat and when it dries applied top coat to get fine crackles. To make that cracks more visible I rubbed dark brown oil color and wiped the extra color with the tissue. It adds more interest on the surface.
Step 7:  As the last step, I fixed my hinges which I removed earlier and above that, at one corner I glued that Hexagonal tiles at their places. I added metal charms for more interest and highlight them with Waxes.  Even for more depth, I added some beads near the charms.

Voila!!!  My Vintage shabby chic box is ready to shine. Hope you guys love it.

Vintage Multi Organizer

Hello Crafty Peeps,

Myself Semonti Roy DT member at The Element Craft Studio. Today I’m here with my first DT post of a decoupaged vintage organizer on TECS blog.

 Here is my finish project.

I’ve used lots of beautiful products from TECS. Products are listed below:

Now I’ll share step by step tutorial on the same.

As we all know, TECS MDF base doesn’t need sanding at all so I have directly applied chalk paint onto the surface. For coloring the base I choose 3 colors. Used gunmetal first then applied other 2 color as dry brush and brush stroke techniques. I prefer color first then decoupage. I decided to decoupage with 2 different design papers which came in same paper pack. Measures the place where I want to decoupage and then apply decoupage glue onto the specific area and decoupage the measured papers.

 Front side color

After Decoupage---

Distressed the entire base edge with brown archival ink.
I have decided to add some clay relief pieces on the base. Then color the clay work with same shades of chalk paints and highlighted with bronze metallic color. Also stamp a vintage car with black archival ink in front of the organizer.

Took wooden cutouts of gears from the pack and color it with same colors. I have used metal leg for the organizer and dry brush them with patina chalk paint and highlighted with bronze metallic color.

Created texture use modeling paste mixed with gunmetal chalk paint with stencil in front of the base and added a vintage clock pocket watch hanging with metal chain.

Before adding charms and legs I have applied two coat of acrylic varnish. Now finish my project. Hope, you all will like my project.

Thanks and happy crafting.
